Game Server Hostnames and Ports Explained
Understand branded game-server hostnames, game and query ports, and which connection details are safe to share with players.

A hostname such as yourserver.nexusgaming.co.za resolves to the public address used to reach the hosting network. The allocated port then directs game traffic to the correct server application.
Use the complete Connect Address shown in the client panel. Some games accept a hostname and port directly, while others expect players to find the server through an in-game browser.
Game, query and administration ports
The game port carries player traffic. A separate query port may advertise status and player information to a public server browser. Games differ, so only the ports assigned to that rental should be used.
RCON, SFTP and panel-management ports are administrative access points. Do not share them with players, and never publish administrator passwords.
When a hostname does not connect
Check that the hostname resolves, the application reports Running and the correct port is included. A working direct IP with a failing hostname can indicate DNS caching or a client that does not accept hostnames in that particular connection field.
Send support the server name, game, hostname, port, connection method, exact error and attempt time so DNS, port mapping and server logs can be checked together.
