Minecraft Java vs Bedrock Server Hosting

Choose the correct Minecraft edition for your players, devices, plugins and mod requirements.

Reviewed 4 September 2026

Choose Java Edition when

Your players use Minecraft Java on Windows, macOS or Linux, or your community needs Java plugins, Paper, Fabric, Forge or Java modpacks.

Java and Bedrock clients cannot normally join the same vanilla server. Cross-play requires a compatible server-side solution and should be tested before launch.

Choose Bedrock Edition when

Players mainly join from Bedrock-compatible Windows clients, phones, tablets or consoles. Console connection methods can vary by platform and network.

Bedrock uses a different server application, configuration format and networking setup from Java. Keep worlds and setup instructions separated.

Before ordering

Confirm the edition shown on every player device. Choose a package for the expected concurrent player count and leave capacity for plugins, mods, exploration and world growth.
